The first step was to acquire some wooden pallets. wood is getting more and more expensive. we wanted to do this as inexpensively as possible, as we are cheap. i got a truck load of free wooden pallets for our chicken coop by asking around. free wood pallets to build a chicken coop. the wood pallets will be used for the walls later.. Pallets=free wood! so consider this inspiration for making a diy chicken coop from pallets. here’s what i did: step 1: i knew i wanted this up off the ground, so i needed to cut some “legs”. cut 2x4s 18″ long, and screw two pieces together to make a square post. do this 4 times, attach these “legs” to the base of a full pallet.. They have a chicken yard attached to their coop so we had to add a chicken door for them to get in and out of their yard and into the coop. all you do is cut a spot big enough for them to get in and out of with a sawzall. it is very simple. if you do not have a sawzall, then a regular hand saw should do the same thing..
